Today I
am thankful for my metronome. My parents gave it to me one Christmas when I was
in high school. The purpose of this little (annoying) gadget is to keep a
musician on beat and I have used it many, many times to learn a piece of music
correctly.
Over the past few weeks, I have spent
quite a bit of time preparing to accompany my daughter’s high school choir for
their fall concert and the metronome was my best friend. I will admit there
were a few times I wanted to throw it on the floor and stomp on it until it was
a bunch of little pieces. But I refrained – because I knew I needed the consistency
it was demanding of me.
My metronome is always within arm’s
reach when I practice - and I’m thankful for every helpful tick-tick-tick.
