Day 8
Today I am thankful for birthdays!
A birthday is a time to celebrate LIFE!
Maybe with a party or spending time with some good friends, or going out to eat…
In our home, the birthday person gets to choose what the meal will be for
supper. After we have enjoyed the meal, there is a time to sing “Happy Birthday”
and to give them presents.
Today is a friend of mine’s birthday –
and I hope it is a very good day for her! (Happy birthday, Jill!!)
Today is also my birthday… my spiritual birthday. Today I celebrate life – not what happened when I physically entered
this world, but the life God gave me through the incredible gift of salvation.
And how appropriate that in the book I
use in my quiet time, the verse was “O Lord, you took up my case; you
redeemed my life.” (Lamentations 3:58) Listen to this thought by Joanna
Weaver:
“God could have taken one look at
the mess we humans had made
– our rebellion, our hatred, our immorality
and idolatry –
and decided to delete it all.
With one push of a button, God could
have rebooted
and started over.
Instead, He became a man.
On the cross He took the weight
of our mistakes.
All my failures, all your hurts, all
our devastation.
And with a final breath He
redeemed it all.”
That, my friends, is a great reason to
celebrate!
