Day
3
Today I am thankful for abundance.
On Friday nights, Tim and I have
started a tradition of getting a sub from Subway, taking a drive, and ending up
at Meijer to do our grocery shopping for the week. On the whole, a rather
inexpensive date night.
Last night when we got to the store, I
noticed how much food stuff for the holidays was out. Aisle after aisle there
were displays of ingredients for this holiday treat or that. At one point I
turned to Tim and told him even though I shop every week this seemed to be overwhelming
with how much was available. I can’t imagine what a person would feel coming
from a country that had very little and walking into a store in our country.
Every time I walk into the grocery
store I am faced with choices – what type of soup (or cheese or crackers or
soap or lettuce or…) would I like to buy? What brand? What size? How many? And
if this store doesn’t have what I am looking for, all I have to do is drive
down the street a little and go into a different store.
In 28 years of marriage we have never
had a bare cupboard. It may not be filled to overflowing at all times, but I
have at least been able to pull out a jar of peanut butter or a box of macaroni
and cheese with which to feed my family.
Yes, we are truly blessed with
abundance.
