Day 13 ~ Today I
am thankful for electricity
The whir of the refrigerator this
morning reminded me that I have a lot to be thankful in that I have
electricity. Following the storm and tornadoes on
Sunday, many people in this area have been without electricity… and that means
all kinds of upheaval.
Just today – without thinking twice
about it – I have used the following that are dependent on electricity:
The alarm clock
The lights in the
bathroom
The light by my chair
where I have my quiet time
Lights in the kitchen
The garbage disposal
The refrigerator
The microwave
My computer
The internet connector
The garage door opener
My cell phone is plugged
in and charging
The light on the piano
The docking station for
my I-pod to listen to music
Some things would be in trouble
without electricity (food in the refrigerator…) and some things would be harder
to do (it was dark when I was having my quiet time) and some things would just
be impossible (nothing warmed up in the microwave or looked up on the internet).
When the bill comes in another week
or so, I’ll try to keep the smile on my face and remember all the reasons I am
thankful for the use of electricity.
