This has seemed like such a long winter! I
have been ready for the flowers to start poking their heads out of the ground
and for the trees to start budding. And it seemed like it was on its’ way…
until last Sunday!
We got pummeled with a snowstorm that
left us with over 8 inches of snow. Ugh. I felt like we had definitely taken a
step in the wrong direction. Instead of joyfully decorating for Easter, I felt
like I should be putting on my favorite Christmas dvd, “White Christmas” and
decorating in red and green plaids.
All thoughts of spring and Easter and
new life were put on hold as I put on warm sweaters and made some soup. My
bright yellow daffodils and cute little ducks looked sadly out of place.
But - it has been interesting to watch
spring come to life as the week has passed. On Sunday all you could see was
white flakes descending and piling up quickly. Monday was cloudy and people
were clearing out their driveways (some rather early in the morning!!). Tuesday
was cloudy but a bit warmer which caused little spots of lawn to start showing.
By yesterday the spots were much larger. And this morning it is bright and
sunny. The snow is continuing to disappear, I’m seeing more grass, and the
flowers are a little more visible. YAY!!
I can sense the hope welling up inside me at this truth: Spring is coming!!
